Did you know I used to draw isometric art almost exclusively? There was something about everything just fitting together that was so satisfying that I really got stuck on it. Another thing I got stuck on back then was drawing cafés and tea houses: warm lighting, steam on glass, wood textures, handwritten signs… the atmosphere of those places really pulls me in.

Growing up in Australia, where café culture is huge, they were a part of my life during all kinds of transitional periods. I’ve spent countless hours in cafés studying, drawing, reading, and connecting with other people. They’re built-in story generators. People come and go, relationships play out, every moment is a slice of life.
